Kana juo 4 dl vettä päivässä

Olen aina ihmetellyt kuinka paljon kanat / kukot juovat. Meidän kaksi pikkutipuakin juovat kaksi, tosin pientä pullollista päivässä.

http://www.cornerstone-farm.com-sivustolla oli vesimääriä per pää (1oz = 25g =0,25dl). Aikuinen kana tarvitsee siis neljä desilitraa vettä per päivä.

Watering Chicks
3 oz (~1 dl) per chick per day from day old to 1 week.
5.5 oz (~1,5 dl) per hd/day 1-4 weeks
11 oz (~3 dl) per hd/day 4-12 weeks
16 oz (4 dl) per hd/day > 12 weeks

Juomistilaakin kanat vaativat sivuston mukaan melkoisesti (1 tuuma = 2,54 cm).
1” waterer space per chick, increase by ¼ inch weekly as they grow
3-4 inches per bird @ 8 weeks.
Eli 8-10 cm per kana parikuisesta alkaen.

Notice in the picture the correct height of a waterer. The should always be located so the drinking fount is the height of the birds back. This keep fecal matter from entering waterer and helps eliminate contamination.
